MUSCAT: Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued a high-level weather alert for parts of the Al Hajar Mountains and adjoining desert areas on Sunday, August 9.

The alert will be in effect from 1 pm until 10 pm, with strong downdraft winds expected to cause blowing dust and reduced horizontal visibility. Wind activity could also become intense at times, according to the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre.

Motorists travelling on the Sultan Said bin Taimur Road between Muqshin and Thumrait have also been urged to exercise caution due to poor visibility caused by winds raising dust and sand.
